You have heard about smarphones for years now, but now they also have smart televisions. Smart TVs are basically TVs that support Internet connection. It allows viewers to surf the Internet via their TV and stream video from online. It is a direct way to keep your TV experience interactive without the need of cable. Now, some of you likely wonder though if it is indeed really “smart”. So we will be taking a closer look at if it really is as smart as they claim or if it isn’t anything more special than a regular TV.

Smart TVs feature either an ethernet cable and/or a USB. This allows viewers to directly connect their TVs to the Internet for surfing, downloading and streaming. Many smart TVs also have apps already downloaded for ease us use, which appeals to the less tech savvy people out there in the market. However, it also has their own series of issues since many of these services that can be used with smart TVs are also subscription based or need their own devices. So the savings can be slim.

Now for those who are wondering about the so-called dumb TVs, they are not all that different from smart TVs. While they do not have some of the same features, you can buy external devices to help extend the purpose of your TV. Things like Boxee and TiVo are prime examples of add-ons that extend your TVs functions without buying a new one. So as you can see, they are pretty much the same except one comes more ready from the start while the other can do the same with the proper tools.

So are smart TVs really all that smart? Yes and no seems to apply here. They are advance and very handy for those who want more out of their TVs, but they are also pricey. As for the no aspect, you can easily get the same from any standard dumb TV. So what it will come down to is what you rather have. Would you prefer to have it ready from the box or would you rather set it up yourself? Those will be the 2 questions that you have to ask yourself.

If you are in the market for inexpensive speakers for your stereo or home theater, you have several alternatives. The first decision to make is if you are buying new or used speakers. If you are buying new speakers, the next choice is whether to look locally or look on the internet. Websites like Amazon will carry a large variety of speakers for you to compare on price and customer reviews. You will be able to find discounted new speakers at websites like overstock. The disadvantage to purchasing online is not being able to hear the speakers prior to purchase. The best way around this is to ensure that you can return your purchase without any problems. If you are looking locally, there are national electronic store chains, department stores and specialty stores to look at. In this setting you will be able to touch and hear the speakers.

When buying used speakers, you can find inexpensive speakers online at websites such as eBay or craigslist. Your local store may have some returned speaker systems that you can also pick up at a reduced cost. Regardless of which way you proceed, make sure to do your research before you buy.

There is no doubt that a high-definition television can be an expensive as well a confusing purchasing. There are so many different options available in televisions today that you might become overwhelmed when shopping for one. One of the choices that you will have to make is if you want to purchase a 720 p or 1080p HDTV.

If you are like most buyers, you undoubtedly want to get the most bang for your bucks. 1080p television sets are higher quality than 720p, but are they worth the extra money? The truth is it depends. The older 720p will provide a satisfactory viewing experience, but the newer, more exspensive 1080p televisions will naturally provide a better picture. 1080p televisions will have a better ability to display fine details; however, in smaller television sets, this will not be a very noticeable difference. Unless you plan to purchase a television that is bigger than 42 inches, a 720p television will probably be sufficient.

If you are planning on purchasing a bigger high-definition television, you should keep in mind how close you plan to sit to your television. For a 50″ television, a viewer can start to see the differences between 1080p and 780 at 9.8 feet. The differences are fully apparent at 6.5 feet.

Keep in mind that size and viewing distance matters. If you are planning on buying an high-definition television bigger than 42 inches and don’t mind spending a little extra money for better quality, you should consider a 1080p television. Remember that if your couch is positioned ten feet from your TV, you may not fully reap the benefits of purchasing the higher quality TV, and if you wish to save money and are purchasing a smaller television, 720p could be all that you need.

Nearly every television made these days comes HDTV-ready. While high definition is not required to use these TVs, the difference once that service is provided is immediate and often overwhelming.

Trying to decide which HDTV to buy can depend on several things. First, there’s space. A small area can be overwhelmed by a 60″ HDTV screen. While it is tempting to go big, it may be more than is really required for the best viewing experience.

High Definition TV has become so refined that even smaller screens can provide impeccable viewing pleasure. A bedroom for example might benefit from a 14-inch or 18-inch screen mounted on the wall or placed on top of a dresser.

Another factor to consider is price. Size and quality are still major factors in determining the quality of the HD experience. This doesn’t mean that a low price necessarily means low quality, since Hi-def is Hi-def for the most part. However, the durability of the TV and its longevity may be compromised to where it may require replacement in just a couple of years.

A walk down a corridor of HDTVs in a shop will show you wide variances in color balance and sharpness. The right one to choose will be different for every customer.

It seems that technology in televisions has been exponentially increasing as time marches on. As televisions begin to load up on various receptacles for devices, it is getting to a point to where there is very little that cannot connect to a television in one way or another.

Getting the best for your dollar requires a bit of looking around. Some of the better televisions will be equipped with at least HDMI, Component (obviously), and VGA for computer link-ups. However, some of the more larger units also support USB for external drives that store movies and other devices.

With new technologies, the best LCD televisions come with built-in software to enable direct streaming of your favorite movies without the use of a PC. These monsters of entertainment also utilize 3D and still operate at 1080p. Some of these amazing works of ingenuity support WiFi and a direct WiFi connection from devices without the need of a wireless router. Movies are able to be sent directly to the television through a wireless connection from a mobile device without connecting to the home network. To top it all off, the smartphone and tablets are able to be used as a remote control for some of these televisions.
